Community Guidelines

Making Space is a professional community for Disabled job seekers and professionals. Participation in any Making Space community space — including the Community feature, courses, and any other platform spaces — requires adherence to the following guidelines.

1. Respectful Conduct All members are expected to communicate in a professional, respectful manner. Disagreements are natural, but personal attacks, sarcasm intended to belittle, or hostile behavior will not be tolerated.

2. Zero Tolerance for Discrimination Any form of discrimination, harassment, or hate speech — including ableism, racism, sexism, homophobia, or transphobia — is grounds for removal from the platform.

3. Interpreting Tone Written communication does not always convey tone clearly. Members are expected to assume good intent unless there is clear evidence otherwise. Misunderstandings should be clarified directly with the person involved or by contacting the Making Space team — not escalated in public spaces.

4. No Excessive Policing of Peers Making Space is a professional community, not a monitoring environment. Reporting minor disagreements, stylistic differences, or unintentional phrasing as violations is discouraged. Reports should be reserved for serious concerns that fall under these guidelines.

5. Privacy and Confidentiality Do not share personal or sensitive information about others outside of the context in which it was shared. Members are expected to treat community interactions with discretion.

6. Relevance and Use of Community Spaces Making Space community spaces are for professional growth, peer connection, and support. Off-topic promotion, solicitation, or disruptive posting is not permitted.

7. Accessibility Practices Members are expected to contribute to an accessible environment by using alt text where possible, avoiding disruptive formatting, and being mindful of communication styles that may exclude others.

8. Reporting Concerns Serious concerns should be reported to the Making Space team at support@making-space.com. Reports will be reviewed carefully and handled with discretion. Repeated misuse of the reporting process for non-violations may itself be considered a breach of these guidelines.

Enforcement & Removal Policy

Participation in the Making Space community is a privilege. The Making Space team reserves the right to remove any member from community spaces at any time, for any reason, at its sole discretion.

Grounds for Immediate Removal Violations of these Community Guidelines — including but not limited to harassment, discrimination, or behavior that threatens the safety or integrity of the community — may result in immediate removal.

Review Process When a potential violation is reported:

  1. The Making Space team will gather and review all available evidence or materials.
  2. Making Space leadership will discuss the incident internally and determine next steps.
  3. If escalation is required, additional advisors or organizational leadership may be consulted.
  4. A final decision will be made by the Making Space team.

All decisions are final. Removal decisions will not be debated with members, nor will details of the review process or evidence be shared publicly. Information will be shared only on a need-to-know basis.

Discretionary Removal Even in cases where no explicit policy violation has occurred, members may be removed if their conduct, engagement, or communication is deemed disruptive, harmful, or misaligned with the goals of the Making Space community.

Post-Removal Communication Removal from the Making Space community does not grant the right to disparage Making Space or its partners in public forums. Members are expected to uphold professional communication standards even after leaving the platform.
